Sisto Badalocchio, full name, Sisto Badalocchio Rosa (1585 – c. 1619)
Sisto Badalocchio was an Italian painter and engraver. He was initially trained by Agostino Carracci in Bologna. After Agostino’s death, he and fellow pupil, Giovanni Lanfranco, were sent to Rome to assist Agostino’s brother, Annibale Carracci in his work. Badalocchio and Lanfranco would often work together on projects and in 1615, they collaborated on the decoration of the Palazzo Mattei di Giove. Badalocchio is today, celebrated as one of the artists who brought the innovations of Roman Baroque, to northern Italy.
