Agostino Carracci (1557 – 1602)

Agostino Carracci was an Italian painter, printmaker, tapestry designer and art teacher from Bologna. Agostino, along with his brother, Annibale and cousin, Ludovico, were founders of the Accademia degli Incamminati, or (the Academy of the Progressives). A movement against the prevailing Mannerist distortion of Italian painting. The academy helped to advance the painters of the School of Bologna to the fore.
