Ludovico, or, Lodovico Carracci (1555 – 1619)

Ludovico Carracci was an Italian artist from Bologna. He, and his cousins, Agostino and Annibale, opened an exclusive school in Bologna called, Accademia degli Incamminati, translated as, (the Academy of the Progressives), which moved away from the contemporary, Mannerist style and favoured a more progressive approach to Italian art. Agostino, Annibale and Ludovico, worked together, early in their careers, painting frescoes for such places as, the Palazzo Magnani.
