Antonio Carracci (1583 – 1618)

Antonio Carracci was an Italian artist, born in Venice. He was the illegitimate son of Agostino Carracci and a Venetian courtesan named Isabella. After the death of his father in 1602, he went to Rome and trained with his uncle Annibale. It is thought that he probably assisted Annibale on the wall frescoes in the Galleria Farnese, and on the decorations in the Palazzo Mattei di Giove. After a short visit to Bologna, Antonio returned to Rome where he worked until his death in 1618.
