Abraham Bloemaert (1566 – 1651)

Abraham Bloemaert was a Dutch artist, printmaker, etcher and engraver. He started out as a Haarlem Mannerist painter but changed his style of art, to fit in with the new, Baroque movement during the 17th century. Most of his studies were of historical subjects, although he also painted landscapes. For a while, he became an influential teacher to many of the Utrecht Caravaggisti. He was born on Christmas Day, 1566.
