Quiringh van Brekelenkam, or, Quirijn Gerritsz van Brekelenkam (c. 1622 – c. 1669)

Quiringh van Brekelenkam was a Dutch artist of the Baroque era. He was born in the city of Leiden, in southern Holland. Brekelenkam painted genre scenes (depictions of ordinary people in everyday situations). He was probably a pupil of the Dutch Golden Age artist, Gerard Dou, this would explain the similarities in his work, to the “Leiden fijnschilders”, (Leiden fine painters) during the 1640s and 1650s.
