Pieter Brueghel the Elder, or, Pieter Bruegel the Elder (c. 1525 – 1569)
Pieter Brueghel the Elder was a Dutch printmaker and artist from Breda or The Duchy of Brabant. He was the most important painter of the Dutch and Flemish Renaissance. He was famed for his landscapes and scenes of peasants. Two of his most notable works are, “The hunters in the Snow” and, “The Peasant Wedding”. From 1559, he dropped the “h” in his name and started to sign his work as, Bruegel.
