Pieter Aertsen (1508 – 1575)

Pieter Aertsen was a Dutch artist who painted in the Northern Mannerism style. He was acknowledged for combining still-life with genre painting (the painting of ordinary people in everyday situations) often with a biblical scene in the background. Due to his height, he was referred to as “Lange Pier” (Tall Pete).
