Osman Hamdi Bey (1842 – 1910)

Osman Hamdi Bey was an Ottoman administrator, intellectual, art expert, Archaeologist, and an outstanding artist. He was born in Istanbul, Ottoman Empire. Bey was regarded as the pioneer of the museum curator’s profession in Turkey and was the founder of Istanbul archaeology museums, he also founded The Istanbul Academy of Fine Arts. In Europe, the Ottoman Empire simply means Turkish Empire, or these days, Turkey.
