Hieronymus Bosch, birth name, Jheronimus van Aken (c. 1450 – 1516)

Hieronymus Bosch was a Dutch artist and draughtsman from Brabant. He is one of the most eminent representatives of the Early Netherlandish painting school. His work includes wonderful interpretations of religious subjects, full of bright, vibrant colours. Bosch’s work was very collectable in the Netherlands, Austria and Spain and people often copied him, particularly his macabre depictions of hell.
