François-Auguste Biard, birth name, François Thérèse Biard (1799 – 1882)
François-Auguste Biard was a French artist, born in Lyon. He studied art at the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Lyon, although he was largely self-taught. His paintings reflect his experiences whilst travelling extensively throughout the world. Places he visited include, Italy, Greece, the Middle East, and later, Malta, Egypt and Cyprus.
