Franz Albert Bischoff (1864 – 1929)
Franz Bischoff was an Austrian-born, American artist, who was principally recognised for his porcelain and ceramic painting. He emigrated to the United States as a teenager and gained American Citizenship. He visited California in 1900 and eventually settled in Pasadena, where he designed and built a large Italian Renaissance style house, which he also used as his studio.
At the beginning of World War I, he moved away from porcelain and ceramic painting and concentrated on canvas works, he produced colourful floral paintings and landscapes of California and Utah.
