Fra Bartolomeo, real name, Baccio della Porta (1473 – 1517)
Fra Bartolomeo was an Italian, High Renaissance artist and painted subjects of a religious nature. He became a Dominican friar in 1500 and gave up painting for several years. In 1504 he was told to return to painting for the benefit of his order.
