Domenico Beccafumi, or, Domenico di Pace Beccafumi (1486 – 1551)
Domenico Beccafumi was an Italian, Mannerist artist, during the High Renaissance era who developed his own personal style. He was born in Montaperti and was active in Siena. He went to Rome from 1510 to 1512 where he became aware of the work of Raphael and Michelangelo, two artists who influenced him greatly. Beccafumi was also a sculptor, wood carver and etcher. He designed 35 superb mosaics for the pavement inside Siena Cathedral.
