Dieric Bouts the Elder (c. 1415 – 1475)
Dieric Bouts the Elder was an Early Netherlandish artist, this group of painters were also known as the Flemish Primitives. Bouts was noted for his portrayal of overly long, thin and angular figures, although his paintings were rich in colour, highly expressive and well thought out. One of his earliest works is the, "Triptych of the Virgin", conserved at the Prado Museum in Madrid.
