Carroll Beckwith, full name, James Carroll Beckwith (1852 – 1917)
Carroll Beckwith was an American artist who painted in a realist style. He was highly respected in the American art world and concentrated mostly on landscapes, portraits and genre works, (paintings of ordinary people in everyday life situations). He also liked to paint detailed depictions of historical monuments and statues. Beckwith lived in Paris from 1873 to 1878 and later, spent some time in Italy.
