Bernardo Cavallino (1616 – c. 1656)

Bernardo Cavallino was an Italian painter and draughtsman, he is regarded as a one of the leading artists, active in Naples during the first half of the 17th century. Cavallino painted elegant and refined figures, often set in small scale religious compositions which he rarely signed or dated. Not much is known about his background or training but it is believed that he died, during the devastating Naples plague in 1656.
