Bartolomé Carducho, or, Bartolomeo Carducci (c. 1560 – 1608)

Bartolomé Carducho was an Italian artist, born in Florence, where he studied both architecture and sculpture under Bartolomeo Ammanati. He learned to paint under the tutelage of Federico Zuccari. He later assisted Zuccari and Giorgio Vasari in decorating the dome of Florence Cathedral. In 1585, he travelled to Madrid with Vasari where he painted the ceiling of the Escorial Library, he also assisted in the painting of the frescoes in the cloisters of the same building. He died in Spain where most of his works can be found.
