Barthel Beham, or, Bartel Beham (1502 – 1540)

Barthel Beham was a German artist and engraver. In the 1520s, he produced tiny, but highly detailed engravings which earned him a place at the German print making school, known as the “Little Masters”. Due to his talents as a painter, he was regarded as one of the leading German portrait artists of his time. He learned his art from his older brother, Hans Sebald Beham and Albrecht Dürer.
