Angelo Caroselli (1585 – 1652)

Angelo Caroselli was an Italian artist of the Baroque period. He was mainly active in his native Rome. His work consisted of portraits, religious subjects, allegories and genre scenes. He also liked to paint scenes of witchcraft and sorcery. You can see the influence that Caravaggio had on him by the way he uses lights and darks, (chiaroscuro). Caroselli was also an art restorer and possibly, an art forger.
